Let's help Sel beat Cancer

No one in their early 30's expects to receive a cancer diagnosis, and many of us wouldn't be financially prepared for the medical expenses that follow that diagnosis.
That is why we have set up this account to help fund treatment and medication for Faaselega (known to family and friends as "Faase", "Selega" or simply "Sel") so that she can fight her battle with cancer without the added burden of financial stress.
Sel's cancer was first discovered in June this year when she was rushed into hospital for emergency surgery to remove a 30cm tumour that had attached to one of her ovaries. Sel's fiance Tejay and her loving family remained constantly by her side while she recovered from surgery. 
This was a particularly stressful time for Sel's parents and immediate family as Sel's younger brother Jay was also fighting cancer. Following Sel's surgery she moved in with Jay for 4 weeks while he was on palliative care. 
Sadly in July, Jay lost his battle and Sel was unable to work while simultaneously healing from surgery and grieving her brothers loss.


A very short while after Sel did manage to return to work she was again rushed to hospital with severe pains in  her abdomen. In hospital a 15cm tumour was discovered on her remaining ovary. Doctors have been unable to identify the location of the primary cancer and it is clear that this cancer is growing  aggressively.
Sel is currently undergoing chemotherapy to reduce the size of the tumour and to hopefully help doctors locate the origin of the primary cancer. Since her first round of chemo Sel has been fighting infection  and the constant fever that has resulted from the infection. This had forced her into hospital for a third time in only a few short months.  The severe pain that Sel experiences at times is being managed with very strong and expensive pain medications. Sel will continue to undergo chemotherapy for the next 6-12 months and during this time will be unable to work as she will be heavily medicated and feeling very weak.


Tejay has also needed to take a considerable amount of time off work to care for Sel. All the while medical expenses continue to roll in.
Anyone who has the privilege of knowing Sel and Tejay would know just how generous this beautiful couple are. They put so much love, time, effort and care into the people around them. They are the friends who are like family and the family who are like friends.


They would also attempt to face this on their own without asking for help from anyone which is why we are asking on their behalf. Anything that you are able to donate will help tremendously to ease the financial burden thrust upon them.
It is also our aim to raise enough money so that Sel can explore alternative treatments and therapies to give her the best possible chances of beating this cancer as soon as possible.
