Meet Drew HAFETS...HE NEEDS OUR HELP!
Drew Hafets moved from Puerto Rico to South Florida over 30 years ago. He was a great tennis player and teaching pro in the Boca Raton for many of those years. Drew spent the majority portion of his life taking care of his ailing parents who were fighting their individual illnesses. After his mother, Bernice passed in 2009, Drew not only lost his family’s home, but was left with a multitude of medical related bills.
Even though Drew was severely depressed, financially broken and homeless, he never lost his passion for the game and the tennis community he called "home".
Medical issues arose again though in Drew’s life and this time he was the victim. Recently Drew was diagnosed with bladder cancer and endured emergency surgery. Drew will have a long road ahead with ongoing surgeries, medical expenses and a lack of stable housing in which to recover.
As members of the Patch Reef Men’s Double team, we, along with Drew’s many friends, regard him as an invaluable teammate and an amazing individual. We are asking you to donate all that you can to help with Drew’s get back on his feet. We're focused on helping him heal and re-build his life.
Drew will need assistance with medical bills, and even basic housing for at least one year. Your generous donations will enable him to have a stable environment for the first time in years, which is incredibly important considering his dire physical condition.
If you don't know him, he's a soft spoken, gentle man, who never asks for a handout. However, we, his friends, teammates, and broader tennis community realize that now, more than ever, he needs all of our assistance to take care of his basic needs and help guide him back to viable path for a renewed future while he faces tremendous health challenges.
Our goal for $50,000 which will provide him with an opportunity to heal emotionally and physically. Please give whatever amount you can. It will be greatly appreciated by all who know and love Drew. Even though Drew will never ask for anything your willingness to help will not be forgotten.
