Let's Get Alan Back Behind the Chair!

Alan  Meets Harvey
For some people in our county, 2017 was a very bad year.  For Alan, it was a year that brought devastation.  He had only been in his new home for a few months when Hurricane Harvey paid a visit and left it unlivable. His dreams and plans for the new home receded along with the flood waters.  Alan found himself in the same situation as many of his family, friends and neighbors. There was more damage than money to repair and rebuild.  Slowly the cleaning and rebuilding began, and after many months, things were getting a little more normal. That is until May of 2018

Another Unwanted Visitor Returns

Four years earlier Alan successfully defeated cancer...yet in May of 2018 it returned, perhaps due to the overwhelming stress of the flood, or the chemicals he came into contact with over the past 35 years as a stylist, or the combination thereof. There weren’t many options; chemo, then surgery, or just surgery.  He opted for chemo but was unable to tolerate the treatment.

When it became clear the chemo was not an option for him, he planned for the surgery.  The surgery is now scheduled for January 22, 2019.
He will have a cystectomy (a surgical operation to remove the urinary bladder)

 What Comes After

Alan’s life will be completely different after the surgery, but he will have a life!  He will be unable to work for at least 2 months, and has not been able to work his usual schedule the past few weeks. His family and friends and even his doctors were amazed that he was continuing to work at all, but he did because he loves his clientele and wants them to be ‘happy and hair pretty’!

How Can We Help?

Alan is anxious to get back to his life.  He recently said he wants to be healthy again so he can help his family and friends like he used to.  He wants to see his future grandchildren.  He wants what we all want, more time with those he loves.

Alan will need to focus all his energy on recovery, not worrying about how to pay bills.  Even with insurance, there are medical expenses and living expenses that continue to accumulate.

Those of you who know Alan know that he would never ever ask for any kind of help from anyone…so we are asking on his behalf.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help him get through this transition period and back to his life.

We are asking that you continue to keep Alan in your prayers as he goes through this journey and we thank you in advance for that gift of prayer.

If you are able to contribute to the fund, we thank you for that as well.
