Let's Build a School for Kids in Arusha

Hallo Leute,
im November 2018 besuchte ich für zwei Wochen eine Schule namens Silver English Medium School in Arusha, Tansania, um dort Kindern im Alter zwischen 9 und 11 Jahren Englisch, Mathematik, Sozialkunde und Naturwissenschaften zu unterrichten. Jetzt möchte ich eine Spendensammlung starten, um bessere Lernbedingungen für die Kinder dort zu ermöglichen.
Die aktuelle Lage:
Die Schule wurde 2012 von Frank Banda Ndulilo gegründet, in der Hoffnung den ärmsten Kindern im Umkreis Bildung zu ermöglichen. Angefangen mit 6 Kindern, ist die Anzahl der Kinder auf heute 120 gestiegen. Nicht alle Kinder können die Schulgebühren aufbringen, dennoch nimmt Frank die Kinder auf und stellt kostenlos Essen zur Verfügung.
Die Schule besteht aus zwei Gebäuden mit zahlreichen Klassenräumen, die derzeit nicht mehr ausreichen, um alle Kinder unterzubringen. Die Toiletten haben kein fließendes Wasser, die Küche besteht lediglich aus diversen Kochtöpfen und Holzkohleöfen. Die Haupteinnahmequellen der Schule sind Spenden, eine Nussplantage von Frank sowie Schulgebühren (wenn die Eltern diese aufbringen können).
Langzeitplan vom Direktor Frank:
Franks Plan ist es, eine neue Schule aufzubauen, um den Kindern bessere Lernbedingungen zu bieten. Derzeit ist der Bau stillgelegt, da Frank kein Geld zur Verfügung hat, um Baumaterialien und Bauarbeiter zu bezahlen sowie die laufenden Kosten der Schule zu decken. Die Kosten für die Fertigstellung der Gebäude werden auf ca. $55000 US Dollars geschätzt (bei Interesse kann ich euch die Aufschlüsselung der Kosten zur Verfügung stellen).
Meine Motivation:
Die Kinder sind mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen und haben mir weitaus mehr beigebracht als ich ihnen vermitteln konnte. Sie sind wissbegierig, diszipliniert, motiviert, intelligent und haben unglaubliches Potenzial. Vor allem aber sind die Kinder glücklich mit dem, was sie haben, auch wenn sie sich Papier, Bleistift und Lineal teilen müssen. Mir war nicht mal bewusst, wie dankbar und glücklich man bei kleinen Geschenken, wie Bleistift und Süßigkeiten, sein kann. Ich will einfach, dass die Kinder bessere Möglichkeiten haben.
Daher möchte ich Frank bei dem Bau der neuen Schule unter die Arme greifen und suche dabei eure Unterstützung. Ich stand mit Frank vor Ort im engen Austausch. Er hat mir seine Beweggründe für die Eröffnung der Schule nahegebracht, seine weiteren Pläne, Ziele und Sorgen. Frank wirkt auf mich als ein sehr authentischer, ehrgeiziger, motivierter und vor allem selbstloser Mensch, der die Schule stets seinen eigenen Bedürfnissen voranstellt. Ich bin noch immer mit Frank im Kontakt, um mich über den Stand der neuen Schule zu informieren. Im Sommer werde ich Frank wieder beim Unterrichten sowie beim Bau der neuen Schule helfen. Ich kann sagen, dass ich sehr großes Vertrauen in Frank habe und ihm deswegen die Spenden ohne Bedenken übermitteln kann.
Ich freue mich über jeden Beitrag, groß oder klein- jeder Beitrag bringt Frank und die Kinder einen Schritt näher an die neue Schule.

Dear Friends,
in November 2018 I volunteered at a school named Silver English Medium School in Arusha, Tanzania, where I taught children at the age of 9 to 11 English, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Physics. Now I seek to raise funds to improve the school`s conditions which, in turn, will enable greater opportunities for the children.
Current Situation and Motivation:
The school was founded in 2012 by Frank Banda Ndulilo. He founded the school in hopes to provide education to the poorest children in the surrounding district. The number of students has ever increased from 6 to currently 120. Although not every child can pay tuition fees, Frank still takes them on and provides food.
The school consists of two buildings with numerous classrooms, which currently cannot accommodate all kids due to space deficiencies. The toilets do not have running water and the kitchen merely consists of a few large pots and coal ovens. The main sources of income are through donations and earnings from the director’s cashew nut plant as well as tuition fees (if the parents can afford it).
Frank’s Long-Term Goal:
It is Frank’s goal to build a new school that accommodates all students and that can provide students with the necessary assets like electricity and running water. The construction has recently come to a halt due to the lack of funds to pay workers, material and to cover the school’s running costs. The budget to finish the remaining buildings is estimated to around $55000 US Dollars (ask me for a breakdown of that money, if you want to know).
My Motivation:
The kids simply won my heart and they indeed taught me way more than I could possibly teach them. They are eager to learn, disciplined, motivated, intelligent and have huge potential. What struck me most is their happiness despite having so little – even sharing pencil and ruler in class just seems so normal. I wasn’t even aware of how happy one can become by getting a pencil or small sweets as gifts. I just want them to have better possibilities!
Therefore, I want to support Frank’s goal to finish the new school and so I reach out for your support. I worked with Frank closely during my time there. He explained to me his motivation to build the school in the first place, he shared his plans, goals and worries with me. I found Frank to be an authentic, driven and incredibly selfless person, whose personal needs seem to be far less important than the success of his school. I’m still holding a close link to Frank to get updated on the school’s progress. This summer I will return to Arusha again in order to teach the kids and to support Frank with his new school. Frank gained my trust and through seeing what he does, how he acts and how he is loved by the kids, convinced me that the funds raised are in good hands with him.
I am personally thankful for any sum of money that you’re willing to donate, big or small- anything will bring Frank and the children one step closer to that new school.
