It's been a dream of mine to do an album like this! I think this is the best writing I have ever done in the world of grown up music, and I have been very lucky to connect up with some super super talented people to help me, the producer, the incredible musicians, everyone! I got inspired by the blues after spending time playing and writing and teaching in Clarksdale MISS, the crossroads, home of the blues. The history is so rich and the music there is deep and real and universal! All that history influenced the themes in my songs, feeling trapped, being crazy in love, being in the grips of a voodoo man, being wounded, and being healed.. all the things that really matter as you get a little older and wiser.

My co-producer and I have gotten down the basic tracks of my songs, and now I want to hire these great players who I have found, great heartfelt and deep souls who make this world a better place with their talents and their generous spirits, and that includes the contributions of my devoted and incredible husband.

After the basic recording has been completed, there's the editing, mixing and mastering, and finally manufacturing. I plan to do the basic lowest costing cd artwork and to run off the minimum amount of cd batches.

I have been lucky in my life to have had record deals, and to get played on the radio..to this day I hear my album Make It Right under my maiden name Leslie Letven on the radio. And I still get fan mail for it. I have worked with some great talents who believed in me and my writing, Chad Smith, drummer for the red hot chili peppers, and Dick Van Dyke. Both have appeared on my children's albums. It's been an incredible journey and it's just getting started. Please help me get this new and exciting direction finished and available to the public.

CHECK OUT THE SONGS: If you'd like to hear a sample of the work in progress, message me and I will send you a link.

Risks and challenges

Of course once a CD is made, marketing is the hard part. The music business keeps changing and new ways of selling music keep evolving.
Now people buy digital downloads, though some still like an actual cd and cover in their hands. I would sell this project thru CD baby and other types of online stores. I also plan to approach labels and distributors to get help with the promotion part. And most of all, I would like to perform these songs as much as possible once I have something tangible in my hands to sell.
