Hello friends and relatives, near and far. My name is LeShaunie Bahózhóní Hadley. I am thirteen years old and in the 7th grade at Tsé Bit'a'í Middle School in Shiprock, New Mexico. I am one of five Navajo students that have been selected to attend the Summer Enrichment Program at Cushing Academy in Boston, Massachusetts where I will be studying in realms of Mathematics.
Cushing Academy is a prestigious college prep where students from all over the WORLD apply and only few are selected and are awarded partial or full scholarships. I have been awarded a partial scholarship and i have a remaining balance of $4,500. My family and I are fully determine to accomplish this task. I am reaching out to each and everyone one of you- my generous friends and relatives, for funding my journey to Cushing Academy and helping with a dream come true.
I am very excited and eager to learn, explore, and experience this prestigious school as a summer intern. I know the academic learning will be a challenge, but I do have the confidence as a Navajo scholar that I will do great! My cultural upbringing with family values, ceremonial prayers, songs and living within the sacred mountains have disciplined my mind to think positive and strive toward the good things in life as a Diné. As a result, I am committed to succeed and return with a wealth of learning experience that I know I will cherish forever.
I thank you for your support in helping me succeed in achieving my first experience with college life. This experience will be very educational and will not only help me grow but understand the importance of education. With that determination in mind, I want to be able to represent not only myself but also serve as a role model for my family, my peers, my siblings, the community and above all- The Navajo Nation!
