On Monday the 11th June 2018, Les Hughes sadly passed away in St Mary’s hospital after a devastating year of ups and downs in and out of hospital, following the diagnosis of prostate cancer a few years ago, and several infections which lead to Les losing a toe and part of his foot.
He fought so hard for so long and although he lost his independence, mobility and in the end his life, not once did he lose his sense of humor, spirit and bravery...
He was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by a lot of people.
As his granddaughter, it is clear to me the heartache and trauma this past year has caused on my family, especially Les’ inspiration of a Wife, Tina (my Nan)... After being refused financial help with making the house fit to care for Grandad which as you can imagine costs thousands, Nan has now been left with the dread of covering funeral costs, on top of her entire life being flipped upside down. *To put it into perspective, they’ve been together since they were 18 and married just a few years after...*
Even if I can help to take the slightest weight off her shoulders at this devastating time in her life it’s got to be worth a try!!
