Help Little Leon Beat Cancer

What parent ever wants to hear those words? “It’s cancer.” After he stopped walking, standing and eating, 3 year old Leon Endriulaitis presented to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. An ultrasound revealed a tumour, 11cm x 8cm. Two days later, Leon was wheeled into surgery for a bone marrow aspiration, a biopsy and to insert a central line. The next day, on 20 April 2018, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. This has since been found to have spread to his bones. Under the loving and watchful eye of his parents Kate and Vytas, Leon has started his first round of chemotherapy. It’s going to be a long, hard road, needing 6 rounds of treatment over the next 5 months but his family are hopeful that he can return to being a happy, chirpy little boy. With Leon expecting to be able to leave the hospital next week, it comes with some added difficulties no parent should have to bear on top of the stress of hearing this news. Living near the city, a car is not something the family has needed, until now. Due to the treatment, Leon will be unable to use public transport with his near non-existent immune system. He is also unable to attend daycare, meaning his mother Kate is unable to work. This makes buying a car impossible. We are asking you to help us buy this family a much needed car. Only something small, used, and modest but something that will make it possible for Leon to attend his weekly appointments and treatments at the hospital. Please, if you can, help us to ease this burden on a family who’s already gone through enough.
