Leona Lapierre's fight to beat cancer

Hi to everyone who is and has been a part of Leona’s life,

Our amazing Leona was recently diagnosed with stage 4 rectal/anal cancer. It started with a routine colonoscopy in early October with some concerns that it may not be too routine. The results came back with her diagnosis of a rare melanoma rectal/anal cancer and she has a tumor in her rectum. Further scans have shown that there is cancer in a lymph node on her pelvis, there are spots on her liver and has spread into the bone on her right skull- effectively categorizing her as a stage 4 cancer patient.

She has an amazingly positive attitude and said her doctor is very optimistic about the aggressive treatment she will be undergoing to beat this. She said she is taking this head on- she is embracing it and will get through it! -spoken like a true warrior.

Her doctor said she is the perfect candidate for the aggressive immuno-therapy treatment which she started November 15th. Luckily this treatment that she may undergo for up to 2 years, is covered by Hope for Life and the BC Government. 

Leona has always taken care of her body with holistic and natural products and through this journey she is wanting to do everything she can to win this fight and these additional holistic options are not covered and can be quite expensive.

Many people know Leona because of her leadership and consultant role with Partylite candles. She has touched many and brightened our lives with her beautiful spirit.

For those of you who may not know about Leona’s new entrepreneurial endeavor, in August of 2017 she found a location for her new passion with her company Anu Light Therapy and Spa. She is now unable to work as she needs to rest to save her energy to fight this cancer battle. She already gets tired quicker and has been experiencing sciatic pain that she now needs to manage and control.

Leona has the love and support of her family and her husband Nick has been able to take a leave from work with a much lower paycheck in order to be with Leona for this journey. He works out of town but at this time having Nick at home is a blessing.

Please keep her in your prayers and know that she is doing everything she can to beat this, including modifying her diet - eliminating sugar, using organic vegetables, resting and following her doctor’s instructions.  

Leona is taking on this fight with grace and determination and with the love and support of everyone who knows and loves her- she can beat this!

For all the amazing ways she has touched our lives- often we do not know how to help someone with cancer- but by supporting Leona financially in any capacity, we can reduce the stress of their finances.
