Lennon's stroke recovery #HopeForLennon

My amazing son Lennon (known to some family and old friends as Katie)has always had the ability to lift the hearts and spirits around him, and now he needs our help. As those close to us know, he has suffered from migraines for many years. On Saturday night (1-12-19) he got a headache and went to lie down. A few hours later he was unable to move or speak. My baby had a stroke.  We are still waiting for genetic testing to confirm the cause, but his neurology team believes it is a combination of two extremely rare conditions. Familial hemiplegic migraines and channelopathy. The conditions are rare seperately but practically unheard of in combination. He has regained some slight movement on his left side, but his speech center was affected by the stroke. He has also had seizure activity, which further complicates recovery. He has a long road ahead inpatient before he'll be able to be released, but once he is we need a safe and accessible home to bring him to. This is impossible for us to do ourselves, and we need help. Between the medical bills, the expense of staying in Denver with him, and the costs of a new place we are completely overwhelmed. Any help is greatly appreciated and we love you all. **I just wanted to pause because I realized a lot of you don't know my son. I would like to try to introduce you to him. ** Lennon has always been a fighter, since the day he came into the world 10 weeks early at only 3 lbs. He has been full of light and love from the beginning. As a small child he was adventurous and inquisitive. He loved nature and art, traits that have only grown in the passing years. He's been sculpting since the first time my dad bought him play-dough as a toddler, creating very realistic roses (considering his age and the medium). He has since graduated to sculpey, and spends most of his time creating original characters. He's absolutely a "nerd" at heart, a label he wears with pride. Besides sculpting he spends his time working on an original web comic with his best friend. He's also in the anime/MTG club at school. His sense of humor is one of the things that sets him apart from the crowd. He can find the humor in almost any situation, and never fails to bring out a smile or laugh. He's kind and thoughtful, once telling me that he tries to find things to compliment strangers on in public because they might need to be reminded that they're worthy human beings and they aren't alone in the world, and he's always been the type to stand up for others when they needed it. He makes me see the world differently, when it's so easy to get lost in your own perspective. There's so much more to him, but hopefully this gives you a better idea of who Lennon is. Thank you so much for reading.
