Len Jones was born in the capital city of Freetown Sierra Leone on Mar.1,1953 and attended the Sierra Leone Grammar School where he finished high school. Len also attended St Edwards and later left for England to continue his studies. He ended up with electronics and had a 20 year tenure at British Telecom.
But Len wasn't known for that. At the early age of 5 Len became fascinated with the guitar and never left it.
His early influences came from a number of Congolese guitarists, the blues, Hendrix, Santana and others. In the early seventies he was the lead guitarist for a popular teenage band 'PURPLE HAZE' named after the iconic Hendrix classic.Later, Lead Guitarist with Super Combo Kings. He was accused often by his companions over the years that he was in love with his Fender Stratocaster over them, which he was!
While in London he was also a studio session musician particularly in the Reggae Scene of the 80s and 90s. His style was very eclectic reflecting the various influences.
