Leighanne Dockerty's Road to Recovery Fund

Leighanne Dockerty is embarking on a journey of recovery following two life-saving surgeries.  After months of misdiagnosis, Leighanne was admitted for emergency surgery due to an extremely rare tumor blocking 90% of her airway.  Doctors speculated the severity of the damage caused by the tumor, but could not predict the aggressive attack it had placed on her tissue, joints and vocal chords, resulting in the removal of a large section of her trachea.  She is now breathing with the help of a tracheostomy and will be slowing learning how to swallow, eat, and speak her new voice with one remaining vocal chord.   

The treatment and subsequent recovery will take time and require Leighanne to scale-back her busy life as a mother, grandmother, full-time child care Administrator and part-time coach. This will incur a heavy burden, both on Leighanne's livelihood, and her financial security.  While she will place her faith in God to support her spirit, she needs the monetary support of a community to help her maintain her financial responsibilities.  She will likely need follow up procedures, so the road to recovery may be long.  

It is hard to understand why bad things happen to good people, especially to really great people.  Leighanne has dedicated her life to supporting others, advocating for children, their families and for the sheer betterment of society.  Countless individuals have found solace and support in her boundless love - unconditional and fierce.  Now, it is time for her to receive support - hopefully exceeding all she has given tenfold.
