Legal Defense Fund for Chuck Miskevich

On August 7th, 2020, in the center of Warsaw, Chuck Miskevich joined a large and impromptu demonstration in protest of the arrest of an LGBTQ activist known as Margot. As Margot was taken into custody in an unmarked police car, demonstrators surrounded the vehicle in solidarity.
During this stand-off with police, Chuck was tackled and put in a sleeper hold, at which point they briefly lost consciousness. Along with 47 others, Chuck was then arrested and detained overnight.
Chuck is a gender-nonconforming dual citizen of Poland and the United States. The Polish government's attacks on its LGBTQ citizens have intensified since the recent presidential election; the ruling party has vilified queer people, sanctioned "LGBT-Free Zones" all over Poland, and now, in response to protests against these tactics, engaged in violent intimidation through its police and legal system.
The charges against Chuck and other demonstrators could result in prison sentences of up to three years, and they need your help to get these charges dropped.
