Help Give Lee His Smile Back

In 2007, my husband, and best friend, made his first attempt to take his own life. Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, we have spent the last nine years searching for a treatment that would give him his life back. Countless hospitalizations, therapies, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and support groups later and we are no closer to the relief that he seeks. Some medications have provided temporary reprieve, while others have led to auditory/visual hallucinations, shakes, insomnia, and temporary psychosis. While there are many promising treatments on the horizon, we have found that obtaining affordable mental health services is an uphill battle. Insurance is slow to cover anything new, and what is does cover is minimal.
As of this moment, my husband is currently a patient in the behavioral health unit at our local hospital following his most recent suicide attempt this past weekend. From there he will have the opportunity to attend a 30 day inpatient program with a good treatment success rate, and new treatment options that have yet to be tried. The only thing holding us back is the cost.
Before mental illness got the best of him, we were foster parents that provided love and care to over 23 children over the years, we were committed volunteers that provided service to numerous causes in our local community, he made music that brought life to the crowd, and he was always able to bring a smile to the face of anyone that could stand his corny jokes,
My husband is a good man, a wonderful father to our two boys, and an excellent husband who has always supported me 100%. I need him in my life, and in our boys' lives. But I need your help to do that, and to give him a chance to find the happiness he lost years ago.
