Leanne's Polar Elephant Swim

$2,235 of $2,300 goal

Raised by 32 people in 14 months
Created November 26, 2017
Hi all! I am raising money for non-profit Elephanatics BC to rescue an abused elephant in Thailand's tourist industry and retire her to the Elephant Nature Park - a beautiful sanctuary in northern Thailand with over 70 elephants. Elephants suffer physical, emotional and psychological damage every day when made to perform or give rides. See video below (some scenes may be hard to watch) or click here for a short explanation without the images.

Anyone who knows me knows I hate the cold. (I might live in Canada but I am in the warmest city here!) Nevertheless I will put on a full-body elephant costume (not the skimpy one above!) PLUS pink pool floaties and run into the freezing North Pacific Ocean on January 1, 2018 (that's the dead of winter here, Aussies). If donations reach $1500 I will put a video of me doing it online. For those brave enough to witness such a spectacle, I will be at English Bay at 2:30 pm on New Year's Day.

All single donations of $100 or more receive a free, limited-edition "Ride A Bike - Not An Elephant" t-shirt, pic below, postage included. To claim your shirt, please email or Messenger me with your choice of pink or grey t-shirt, your size (S, M, L, XL), full name, complete address and phone number.

Thank you so much to everyone who can help! No matter what size the donation, your support means the world to me and the elephant whose life we will change forever. I can't wait to meet her! I plan to assist the Elephant Nature Park team in the rescue and will send video updates to those who would like it. Click here for info on the great stuff Elephanatics does for eles.

Warning: some images may be hard to watch. Recommend turning volume to low. Click here if you would prefer a short written explanation of how elephants are affected by riding.

Greetings! In 3 days I will don a full-body elephant costume and jump into the icy waters of Vancouver's English Bay. The world's first Polar Elephant Swim! I hope to raise money to rescue an abused tourism elephant in Thailand and retire her to a nearby sanctuary. I just have about $400 to go so if you can help (even a small donation is great) the elephant and I would be eternally grateful. Please share and thank you very much!
