Leandy and Bautista Family

My niece Leandy was born on the Island of Guam. She has lived on the Island for 12 years.
In the summer of 2015, her life abruptly changed. She developed a large tumor-like growth on the left side of her shoulder. As the tumor began to grow, the pain continued to worsen. Medical help was scarce on the Island, so her Mother Milleth flew her to the Philippines to get the care she needed.
The medical treatment in the Philippines was helpful, but cost led to financial difficulty.
When I found out about Leandy's condition, I recommended the family to move down to the United States, where they are renowned for providing care for children.
Milleth and Leandy moved here to Fort Collins in the Fall of 2015, followed by her family a few months later. She began treatment at the Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
The doctors diagnosed Leandy with osteosarcoma (bone cancer), which was rare in her family.  She went through chemotheraphy, had ports inserted, and dealt with a couple blood transfusions. At the age of 12, she was fighting for her life against cancer.

Leandy's growth on the left side of her shoulder worsen. The doctors decided to remove her entire left arm in December 2015 to terminate the cancer spread. The loss of her arm was difficult to bear, but through the circumstance, Leandy kept fighting. In addition to her arm, she had additional surgery done to her spine. But with high hopes, and trust in God she believe she could get better.  Her pain slowly alleviated, but healing took months. Leandy continued to fight and never gave up.

Prayers were answered and with the help of the wonderful staff at the Children's Hospital, Leandy went into remission and was cancer-free before the summer of 2016. She lived a normal teenage life, and started school for the first time at Lesher Middle School in Fort Collins, CO.

Unfortunately, this past week Leandy began to feel excruciating pain. Her parents brought her to Poudre Valley Hospital, and the Doctors did an MRI scan. The scan showed abnormalities, and the medical staff believed the cancer came back. Leandy was sent back to the Children's Hospital where they noticed the cancer had metastasize to her brain and spine, and is spreading rapidly throughout her entire body.

The Doctors forsee Leandy living for a week to a month. Throughout all this, Leandy has managed to stay positive, strong, and courageous. At13 years of age, she has accepted her circumstance and know with God's grace that everything will be okay. Leandy's Birthday is next month on May 27, and her wish this weekend is to celebrate her 14th birthday.

I'm doing this donation on behalf of her and the Bautista family.
This has cause a financial hardship, and they urgently are in need of help with medical bills, rent, and other expsenses that come along. Leandy's mom is currently out on leave for work, and is staying with her at the Hospital.Leandy's father is also sick, and is on dialysis three times a week while watching his two other young children. This donation will help tremendously, as well as your support and continued prayers.

We appreciate all the help we can get for Leandy and her family, and are truly grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous...it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

Amen

We love you Leandy.
