Last week Lt. Shaun Marchand was fighting the flu which turned into pneumonia, and  he was hopsitilized.  Due to complications of pneumonia he was sedated and intubated and just this past week moved to the ICU at Mass General Hospital in Boston.  We foresee Shaun having long term care to assist in his full recovery and the Upton Permanent Firefighters Local 3338A is looking for donations to assist him and his family in his lengthly recovery.

From Lauren Marchand:

Thank you so much for every shred of support and generosity for my brother Shaun Marchand his sudden ailment was earth shattering to our family but to have him back and fighting to get better makes everything worth it. Thank you for everybody's generosity Shaun's road to recovery will not be short and everything helps. Sincerely thank you.

Shaun is definitely going in the right direction. Some days better then others. But there seams to be less backward then forward. We are finally armed with a great team of specialists more than just PT/OT that will hopefully bring more strength to his fight so we can kick this ailment to the curb and gain strength. So this will be an exciting but stressful week.

I just want to say....Keep ur chin up!!! And just keep remembering how far we have already come. That goes for not only Shaun but my whole family!!! One day this will be but a faint memory and just a reason why we squeeze each other so tight and say I love you so much....

Thank you everybody and keep up your amazing prayers idk where we would be without them.

Just wanting to update everyone that Shaun is officially home. He's doing very well but as expected he gets tired easily & needs his rest. He starts outpatient PT this week as well as follow up appts. The Marchand's have appreciated all the well wishes & support!

At this time his doctors are asking that he have very limited visitors. SO if everyone can please respect this & not go over unannounced. They will let people know when enough time has passed & can accept visitors.

Keep the prayers coming as this will continue to be a long recovery until Shaun has returned to full health.

Update from Lauren:
It's serial to see Shaun making such progress. To think of where he was and then see him today is just unreal. Though he anxiously still resides at the icu at MGH, we are able to converse with him and know he is going to be ok.
Our nightmare is hoped to fade with time and Shaun's rehabilitation, that has already started, continue to flourish. Keep up all the hard work Shaun you have so many people to thank for there love and support.
Thank you everybody you moved mountains with your hopes and prayers. — with Shaun Marchand.

Update from Lauren:
Thank you to all the angels and heavens above! Sorry for the delay it's just been a tornado going on with Shaun... All great steps just lots to manage and quickly catch up on. After weeks of Shaun's eyes being closed yesterday was the day they finally opened. We are now vent free and taking baby steps to fight the rest of this junk. His voice is a confused disoriented whisper, and body has lots to recover from, but he continues to amaze and shock the icu team of Dr's and nurses at MGH as we'll as us.

We were told Shaun's life saving treatments and recovery from them have broke MGH records. His strength and fight was more than we could have imagined and everybody's love and support and prayers carried him back to us.

Thank you I wish there was something more I could say to express my family's endless gratitude to everybody's efforts and prayers. Thank you.

Our road to recovery will be long but just knowing he is awake just recharges us for the fight.

Thank you for waking up brother Shaun... I love you and missed you so much..... we will get you up and running soon I promise wink emoticon
