Save Pebbles cleft palate puppy

Help an Air Force family save their puppy Pebbles!

Pebbles was born on Nov. 16, 2014 she weighed 1.9 ounces and needed immediate vet care after birth to help her breathe. It was discovered she would need to be bottle fed every 2-4 hours for the first 7 weeks because she could not suckle. As she slowly grew we noticed something terribly wrong. During each feeding she would have lots of milk spew from her nose. As she transitioned to wet puppy food it too came out her nose, completely abnormal.

At her 8 week check-up, it was discovered she had a serious birth defect, secondary cleft palette. A rare defect where the roof of her mouth did not close, leaving a long, narrow hole open to the nasal passage. Eating is a real challenge. Today at 12 wks old she is still being hand fed and only weighs 15 ounces. Pebbles must have this surgery in 3 short weeks to close the canal so she can live a healthy, happy life as our family pet. Please help!!!!

Pebbles went in for surgery Wed March 4, 2015. She fasted for 12hrs to prepare for surgery but that caused her blood glucose (sugar) to drop well below the 75 minimum to survive anesthesia. She measured in at 38. So it was decided a stomach tube with continuous feelings overnight was necessary to get those numbers normal. So surgery was delayed a day.

Thursday March 5, 2015 her glucose numbers were up over 200 so surgeon feels she can go forward with surgery today. She will need to go home with a semi permanent feeding tube for 3-4 weeks to help her mouth heal and avoid infection. Because of all these setbacks surgery costs have jumped much higher than expected.

Any help whether it be finances, publicity, and prayers are much appreciated. Pebbles and all 6 of us are most grateful.
