James Layno's College Tuition

Donation protected
Hey guys, it's James Layno again AKA LaynoProd. I say 'again' because this is my second time doing a GoFundMe campaign. I'm an 18 year-old about to become a sophomore at the USC Thornton School of Music, majoring in Music Industry and minoring in Music Recording. I decided to go to USC for music because I want to learn in an environment that helps further cultivate my passion for making music. My friends, professors, and peers were also very influential in helping me become an aspiring producer and rapper during my freshman year.

I'm raising money for my college tuition for the Fall 2016 semester. I'm behind again in my tuition payments (from the Spring 2016 semester,) this time by about $3000. Because my payments are past due, the university has restricted me from registering for classes for the upcoming Fall 2016 semester. I can't register for classes on time until I pay the balance I owe of about $3000 by August 22nd, which is the general start for classes.

Last year during the Fall 2015 semester, I started my first GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for my tuition. I was behind by about $2000. With the help of many of my friends, family, teachers, and people whom I've never met before, I was able to reach my goal within a month of starting the campaign, just a few days before the class registration deadline! This really blew my mind because I never thought that people would actually help me reach my goal in time.

Right now, I owe about $3000 from the Spring 2016 semester, which is an even bigger challenge than before. The exact money I owe is around $2800, but the GoFundMe platform takes a percentage off the money I raise, so I need to raise about $3000.

After financial aid, grants, and government loans, I had to pay about $4000 for the Spring 2016 semester. My parents and I couldn't pay the whole $4000 during the Spring semester because we are constantly living paycheck to paycheck and behind other payments. My dad is on disability and my mom lost many work hours due to on and off illnesses. I tried applying to several jobs during this whole year in order to not have to rely on crowdfunding in order to take classes in college. That didn't turn out well and it's my fault for not thinking ahead and applying earlier and to more places. It's too late to get a job to pay what I owe within a month of starting school. It's always in the back of my mind, the fear of not being able to pay my tuition on time and accruing debt. This whole summer I had many thoughts of dropping out. But I believe that God put me in USC for a reason, plans that are bigger than mine. The only thing that was stopping me from doing another GoFundMe campaign was my ego. But I have to let that go. I have many flaws as a human being, one of them being that I'm not good with money. I ask you to please help me in any way or form, or even give advice. I will try my best to get a job during school and when I'm off school, even if it's finding ways to make income from the music I create.

I really appreciate the time you're taking just to read this. Just for reading this, I am offering you my music. It's what I do best. I've been working on many music projects during this summer, one of them being a project where I took several familiar songs and added my own spin to it. It's called "LAYNO FLAVA VOL. 1" by (me) LaynoProd. This project includes 5 tracks that I produced, mixed, and mastered. I've been working on this project for the past few weeks, and I will complete it by Friday July 22nd, which is a week from when this was posted. Please let me know that you checked out my GoFundMe page by messaging me via this website (click the mail logo next to my name with your email in the description) so I can email you the music files. If you decide to donate towards my tuition, please also provide your email in a message so I can send you the music files. I greatly appreciate any amount  that is donated. On Friday July 22nd, I will start sending the music files to those that messaged me their email from reading this post. These campaigns are a huge risk for me, attending a very expensive college is a huge risk for me, and pursuing a career in music is a huge risk for me. However this campaign goes, I am still very thankful for those that have impacted me in pursuing my dream. Please share this page with anyone. Thank you with all my heart. #laynoprodtuition
