I have spoke woth family and have gotten permission to start this gofundme to help with hospital living expenses so mom and dad can be with baby girl and not have to worry about money.  Hospitals are expensive! Please help this sweet family as prayers for sweet baby layla!

For everyone to know from the beginning this is Layla Wheetley. She was born Christmas Day weighing at 6lbs and 10oz 20 inches long. Momma was having lots of pain early morning and went to the hospital they were monitoring Layla’s heart beat and were about to send us home when they seen a dip in her heart rate from about 140 to 66.. the knew something was wrong. Nurses came in and told us we needed to get baby girl out, they broke my water and said it looked like mud. From the meconium that she had ingested, that has caused her hypertension in the lungs. The placenta almost ruptured it had a hole in it which cut off the oxygen to her brain.. So she has swelling on her brain and damage, soon to tell the severity of her situation. After my c section they had to have a dr pump oxygen into her lungs for about 30 minutes. As I woke up and was sent to my recovery room the Doctor kinda informed me of her situation and when they were able to get her stable enough they would air lift her to Memphis. I was unable to see or even touch my babygirl for two days. She was put on a cooling blanket shortly after she was born to help cool her body so the brain wouldn’t work so hard to keep her body temperature up, trying to help her brain from swelling and causing further damage. They had that in her for 72 hours to see if it has benefited her they needed to reheat her. Which was completed at about 3:45am December 29th. As they reheated her body she’s shown that her blood pressure has come up which is good but we don’t want it too high so they are monitoring her on that still. Her heart rate has increased as well which is good but the same we don’t want it too high so her body doesn’t try to work too hard too quick they have upped her pain meds to be sure her heart rate doesn’t get too high. She is still on the ventilator and will be until her oxygen is in the 90s. They will be able to slowing lower that then and once she is more stable further test will be done. Also after warming she hasn’t had any seizures which is something we were praying for.

We are taking things day by day, sometimes just hours at a time as well. We ask if you pray please do so for her, if you don’t please just send positivity our way. Our babygirl is critical and those who are parents know just how hard it is to watch your baby go through something and not be able to do anything. It’s hard on the heart and mind. We are supposed to be the ones that help throughout their life and it takes a toll emotionally when you have to just see them suffer.
