Help Lavender Pay Rent This Month
Donation protected
Hey folks,
This one's pretty simple. I live in Boulder, it's hella expensive here, and I haven't been able to pay July rent.
This is really hard for me to share with you. A lot of things led up to this moment. I quit my job at Amante Coffee to finish my MFA. This was not an arbitrary choice. My final obligation for grad school was a three-week intensive program (June 11-July 1) consisting of twelve hour days and homework. My job at Amante was not full-time, not well paid, and not good for my mental health. So I haven't worked for pay in a few weeks. The Summer Writing Program at Naropa ended July 1st (when rent was due). During those three weeks, I was applying for and interviewing for jobs. I interviewed for and immediately obtained a job at Terrapin Care Station on July 3rd--I started the job on the 4th! The environment there is equally upbeat and relaxed, which is a blessing. Being a budtender at Terrapin is a full-time positions with benefits--for which I am incredibly grateful. But I've hit a bump in the road. I get paid on the 15th and it won't be much because I just started the new job.
I have finally accepted that I will not be able to pay this month's rent without help. There simply isn't (and wasn't) the time or money to make that happen. I know what some of you are thinking--"Why don't you get a credit card, Lav?" The answer is that I've never had a credit card and my credit score is so bad that no one will give me one. "Why?" you ask? Because of my student loan debt! Fun, right?
If I don't pay my rent soon ($750), I could be facing eviction. I need to make this happen ideally within the next week, as I have already accrued late fees (at least $100).
Please help.
