Lauren's fight for her life

Lauren was in a terrible accident on the evening of November 12th. She fell down an exterior stairwell and suffered horrible injuries. She was taken to Vail Hospital and then airlifted to a hospital in the Denver metro area where she was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. She had surgery the following morning on November 13th where surgeons removed part of the skull flap on the right side to relieve the pressure.  She had 3 skull fractures, a fracture of the C-1 vertebrae, and multiple facial fractures around her eyes and ears. She spent almost one month in the ICU.

It is anticipated that she will need to be in the hospital for the next couple of months for acute rehabilitation. Currently, Lauren has no function on the left side of her body. She will need to relearn basic skills such as walking, talking and feeding herself. Lauren’s mom, Pat, flew out to Colorado on November 13th and has been by her side every day.  Pat is committed to being with Lauren on her recovery journey.   As you can imagine expenses are rising for Pat as she has taken a leave of absence from work, and is now out of state, yet still has a mortgage and reoccurring expenses at home in California, as well as living expenses in Denver including a hotel bill that is nearly $3,000 a month.
