Laura's battle with Cancer

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for taking the time to watch our video and read our story. This is dedicated to Laura Sieja. She's a loving wife and mother. She's currently in cancer treatment for brain and spinal cancer. This is Laura's fourth time with cancer...

It started in 2010 when a tongue biopsy came back positive with cancer. It was a shock to us all. She’s never been a smoker and was healthy. To get rid of the cancer, half of her tongue was removed. They made sure to remove all the cancer. Her tongue was then reconstructed using skin off of her thigh and wrist. Till this day she sees complications from that surgery. She cannot produce saliva. After the surgery Laura went through 12 weeks of radiation.

Fast forward to 2013. Laura gathers her children to let them know what news she's just received. She then lets us know that she has been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. We are completely devastated.. After tears and hugs she ensures us that she will fight this and she will be there for us kids. Laura underwent a double mastectomy. It was the best approach for this aggressive cancer. I will never forget the night of the surgery Laura had the will and courage to stand and walk. Even through all the pain she was showing us that she was not going to let this cancer keep her down. She was the complete definition of a fighter. After surgery Laura went through Chemotherapy.

In the fall of 2016 Laura began to have memory issues. With her medical past, we were worried and wanted to get this figured out. Turned out Laura had a tumor growing on the outside of her brain. To get rid of the tumor doctors had to cut into her skull and remove the tumor that was pushing on her brain and giving her these memory issues. The tumor was tested and turned out to be cancer cells in the tumor. Another shock... we could not believe that this woman has had cancer again. We were thinking " how much can one person go through?". Broken, but not down, Laura came out of surgery with a smile on her face. She's always been in good spirits even at the worst of times. After surgery she did have to relearn some motor skills. Treatment did take a while. Laura was taking steroids to help with all the brain swelling. Getting Laura off the steroids was the most painful part.

At this moment Laura has just now been diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer. The cancer has moved back into the brain and traveled to the spine. Laura was just clear with an MRI late December and at this time she has cancer spreading throughout her brain and down her spine. This current cancer is a very fast acting and aggressive cancer. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do to treat Laura is chemo. All that is going to do is slow down the cancer. This has been our worst nightmare. Laura has been through so much and now for this to happen is a tragedy. We are keeping spirits high but unfortunately that is all we could do. We've started this GoFundMe to help with all the doctor bills that have been piling up. Laura's husband Bill has done so much and continues to do everything he can for her. We would like to keep his mind clear from all the bills that have accumulated. Anything that can be donated is greatly appreciated. The smallest amount goes a long way. Laura means so much to many. Thank you again for reading. Please also send prayers.
