Laura's Story:

I got to know Laura about three months ago, and since that time she has had three surgeries.  Today she told me that she finally got an appointment at Mayo Clinic to figure out what is going on.  After talking with her and her husband this afternoon, I understand why she's going to Mayo.

Laura has had 28+ surgeries between 1995-2017.  She is constant pain 24/7.  She was diagnosed with lupus as well as arthritis.  Below is the list of surgeries that she has had:

18 surgeries on both her hands - both thumbs fused as well as CMC joint fusions

4 surgeries on her knees (replacements and revision on both knees)

1 surgery on her right hip (scope with bone removal and tear)

2 surgeries on her toes (toe fusions - pins and metal plates on both feet)

3 surgeries on her Achilles tendon (rupture)

Her appointment has been postponed until this fall.  She needs the money in order to get there and back, have a place to stay while there, as well as cover any medical expenses.
