Las Tesoros Documentary Travel Fund

Las Tesoros de San Antonio/A Westside Story is a feature-length documentary film that examines the personal toll and legacy of four South Texas singers of yesteryear.  Rita "La Calandria" Vidaurri, Blanquita Rodriguez "Blanca Rosa", Beatriz "La Paloma del Norte" Llamas, and Anita Janet Cortez "La Perla Tapatia."  Through their stories and music the audience learns how these women began their careers in a male dominated industry to become successful singer/performers nationally and internationally.  As well as their personal tragedies that led to retirement and then to their present day musical resurgence.

The film is cultural, historical and educational.  We want the film to be accessible to everybody, i.e. senior centers, schools, universities, cultural centers,  libraries etc.  These will be the main beneficiaries.

The funds will specifically be used for travel purposes and other expenses.  One way of promoting the film has been through film festivals.  The film festival circuit has been a valuable resource for showcasing our film nationally and internationally. The film has been an Official Selection/CineFestival/San Antonio , TX./2016, Best Documentary/Festival Internacional de Cine de Michoacan, MX./2016, Official Selection OC Film Fiesta/Film Festival of Santa Ana, CA./2016, Winner Premio Herencia/Xicanindie Film Festival/Denver, CO./2017, Official Selection/Arizona International Film Festival/Tucson, AZ./2017, Official SelectionSAFilm/San Antonio Film Festival/San Antonio, TX./2017 There are costs to participate in these festivals.  That's why we are asking for your support.  In order to attend these festivals, we need to cover costs for: entry fees, flights, hotels, meals, transportation (buses, taxis, Lyft, subways, car rental etc.) and misellaneous items.

There is one festival fast approaching.  The New York Latino International Film Festival (Oct. 11th).  We need the funds by or before the above date in order to attend this festival.

As other festivals come up, we will be asking you again for donations to help us get there.  With your generosity and support,  the longevity of this film will endure for generations to come.  For us, it means Las Tesoros de San Antonio's history and legacy will live forever.

As filmmakers, we are very proud and honored to be a part of this endeavor.  As the director, I am so grateful to everyone that worked on the film.  I cannot thank them enough for believing in my vision.  We spent seven years on the project.  It became so organic.  People would ask us, "how can I help you" or "let me help" etc.  It was a very beautiful and heartfelt process.  I am very grateful for the support that we have had and for the continuing support of others.

Let's continue the momentum!

 Honoring our elders.

Thank you.
