Help Us Rebuild Puerto Rico

50 days of Thanksgiving

“Help us Rebuild Puerto Rico”

In September 2017, Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, a category 3 storm that slammed into the main island knocking out power to the island, damaging a dam and decimating buildings.  Lives were lost and the damage calculated to be billions of dollars.

To this day, the biggest need in Puerto Rico continues to be consistent sources of power to serve small communities as can be seen in the February 8, 2018 article in the NY Times.

We are helping the global efforts in Puerto Rico by sending a team of parents, players and coaches from the Langley Blaze t this coming February to deliver equipment and work to install generators.

We need your help immediately

In order to purchase the equipment and supplies for this trip, we need the financial support of the community as soon as possible.  How much we are able to purchase and when delivery of purchased goods can be made are all dependent on how much money we can raise by November 27.  Large equipment must be secured and transportation logistics arranged well in advance of the February trip to Puerto Rico.

How much?

Any amount will help.  Be part of something that will make a real difference now and long into the future for the people in Puerto Rico.

The need:

Ideally we would like to raise $25,000 for generators, supplies, hardware, baseball equipment and tools.
100% of amounts raised on GoFundMe will be directed toward rebuilding projects in Puerto Rico.

How we will meet the need:

Parents and players from the Langley Blaze will spend two weeks in Puerto Rico working, engaging in social service projects, and playing goodwill baseball games against youth in Puerto Rico.

We will collect, purchase and ship generators, baseball equipment and building supplies to Puerto Rico.

We will rely on parents trade knowledge, local trades, and the labor of parents and players to move and install equipment in Puerto Rico.

Why are we doing this?

We are all part of a global community and our youth need to learn about the needs of others around the world.  There is no better way for young people to learn about social service, social justice, and giving back than through seeing the needs of others with their own eyes and learning that they can make a difference in the lives of others.

Athletes work hard to improve their skill and ability, but there are athletes around the world who accomplish more with a lot less…it is important for our team to learn hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and service.
