Landry's Home Fire relief Fund

First off I would like to say I am very blessed my family is safe and only lost material things, thanks to Mom (Kathy) waking up and getting everyone going, but someone else may not be so lucky. This is not the call you want to get at 4am "Hank, this is not a joke the house is on fire." That call came from Jame's who lived with my in-law's in the house. They called 911 first but Samantha and I got there about the same time as the fire department. They lost just about everything. This is why I want to express my feelings on the subject of fire district coverage areas.
To all rural residents please find out IF your place is covered by a fire district. This is a photo of their place going up in flames because they were under the misunderstanding that they had fire district coverage. It turns out they did not, so when they called for assistance before the flames got out of hand they were told they could not dispatch because they are out of the district coverage area. The sheriff had to respond and verify it was truly a structure fire and by that time the flames had taken over. Then they only dispatched brush trucks to keep the flames contained to the structure... for which I want to thank all the respondents that came and did what they could. We need to change how these laws are written for rural residents, yes it would mean you pay more in your taxes but if you could save your family and heirlooms I think it would be worth it. On another note, PLEASE, before you start burning in your fireplace check all smoke detectors and have your chimneys cleaned out so this does not happen to you!
Now for the tough part rebuilding your life from scratch. The family that lived here may not seem special to most but Ken and Kathy Landry have always been there for anyone who needed it. Throughout the years they have helped many people, Samantha cannot remember a year that would go by without someone new living with them, who needed a hand. They were currently helping James Warner, a disabled veteran, when he needed a place to stay and needed help getting back on his feet. At the time of this fire they also had their eldest daughter Jennifer and her two children living with them, after they fell on hard times and needed a fresh start. Needless to say they had a very open and loving home they shared with anyone who needed it.
No one likes or wants to ask for assistance but at times like this we need to come together and support a family that has given more than they received.
Any help you can give would be very much appreciated and it would help everyone displaced by this fire!
Thank YOU!
