Ladies Who Paint Mural Walk
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
The First All-Female Mural Walk
Art walks are an amazing way to bring art into a community. We will bring in the top talent of artists from around the world to paint large scale art pieces on the sides of buildings in a specific neighborhood in San Diego.
San Diego is lacking in murals. This is the perfect way to help create an outdoor gallery in East Village, San Diego. Our art walk will bring culture and life into the streets of downtown to make the neighborhood feel more inviting and safe.
Mural events in general are extremely male- dominated, yet there are so many amazingly talented female muralists and street artists. In today’s social climate, this is the perfect opportunity to support and celebrate female artists while also adding art to the community of San Diego.
WHO WE ARE
Pandr Design Co. | Ladies Who Paint
We are Phoebe Cornog and Roxy Prima of Pandr Design Co. We’ve painted about 100 murals all across the U.S. and in 3 countries abroad. We are known for our bright color palettes and unique letter forms in our work. We also run a successful podcast, teach workshops and webinars about running a creative business, and speak at conferences.
We have successfully built a huge community of followers on social media and our murals have been a way to create interaction with them. We have seen the power of creating art in cities all over the country and we want to make an impact here in San Diego by starting the first all- female mural festival!
Mural events like this are like a retreat for the artists invited. We will be bringing out 10 of the worlds top muralists to create a piece of art on a large wall here in San Diego. By giving artists the freedom to create what they want, the artwork is that much more meaningful and special.
The art world isn’t as progressive as you’d think. It’s so much harder for female artists to make a living as an artist and get the recognition for their talent that they deserve. San Diego is the perfect place to show that all artists are welcome and females are celebrated.
Make an Impact on the Community
Art literally makes people happy. We’ve seen so much interaction with the community in our murals with countless photos being shared on social media. Our festival will be the perfect way to help bring in tourists and locals alike into a specific neighborhood. Let’s make San Diego’s art go viral.
WHERE IS THIS HAPPENING?
Bring More Foot Traffic
The East Village neighborhood of San Diego would benefit from our outdoor gallery by bringing in more foot traffic. Our mural walk will bring in tourists and locals alike and get more visibility on local businesses.
Add to San Diego’s Culture
San Diego is known for the beautiful weather and beaches, but it has a rich culture as well. Through social media engagement and news outlets, our festival will put San Diego on the map for its great art as well. This will attract a new audience when it comes to tourism.
Give Back to The Community
All extra funds from our sponsors will go to a local charity that helps women suffering from abuse and homelessness in our city. We can help make our city a better place by adding art and helping others.
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
The mural walk is scheduled to take place September 28 through October 5, 2019... the perfect painting weather! It's after the height of tourism season in San Diego and the temperatures will be perfect. Artists will be announced in May 2019.
