Help Me So I Can Help Him

Update June 13, 2018:

Hi Everyone! It's been a minute since you've heard from me & I wanted to share an update. I am just a little over 1 month post-op. I've been home for a month and went back to work on May 25. I have been off pain meds since May 10 and have been able to manage the small amount of pain I've experienced with Tylenol or a heating pad. My surgical glue came off a little over a week ago and my incisions look great!

Overall, I'm doing ok. I've struggled with energy and took A LOT of naps for a few weeks. My appetite hasn't returned yet, so I have lost some weight, but I feel like it will return soon. I've been experiencing weird sensations in my left side. It's like....I can FEEL the emptiness. I can really only compare it to being pregnant and then the emptiness after giving birth. I did have to sit out of my track season, but I'll be back next year I DID get to coach my team at their State Games this past weekend, so life is definitely getting back to normal!

I donated a large portion of the funds you all helped me raise to Team Mason to help send some kids to camp. Funds that we raise right now will be used to help me travel to my follow up appointments and all the extra money will be donated to kidney research. So thank you all for that! Next month, I'll be working as a photographer for a golf scramble that Team Mason puts on for kidney research and I'm totally blessed to have that opportunity.

Over the last several months, I have discovered a new family and new support group. You all made this journey possible and I cant say thank you enough ♡♡

Original Story:

Hi everyone! I'm Kyllee, a small town girl from Indiana. Like many people, I want to leave a positive impact on my little world and help others in any way I can.

At Christmas, I registered and sent in an application to be a kidney donor for a man who went to Crawfordsville High School. Little did I know how fast everything would go and what was in store for my life. After all the testing, it's been determined that I am a nearly perfect match for him.

This man doesn't know yet. I have one more physical to go through and make sure Im still strong enough to do the surgery. The entire process will take place at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC.

However, I found out that the insurance will ONLY cover the medical aspect of this process. I am financially responsible for my travel, place to stay out there, meals and travel home. I am also required to travel with a support companion, as I will only stay in the hospital for 2 days, but have to stay in the city for a week & can't be alone.

I'm not the type of person who can easily ask for help. However, I can't do this alone. My parents are keeping my kids for the week I'll be gone, so they can't help too much.

Two things...

1) If for any reason this procedure doesn't happen, I will make sure you get your donation back.

2) Any money that isn't used will be donated to someone in need.

Even if you can't donate, I'd appreciate your prayers and if you could share this ♡

**Update...Mark and Kim now know who I am. I've exchanged messages with them and I'm getting antsy for this shindig to get moving!

I did have to increase my goal amount. We have a TENTATIVE date set in mid-April. Until the date is set in stone, I can't book my flight or hotel. As many people know, the closer you get to the date, the more expensive flights and hotels are.  As such, there may be money left over.

Here's the deal. There's a camp that caters to kids with kidney disease. It's $1000 PER kid. Many families are so bombarded by medical expenses that they can't afford to send their kids. Do you agree that these kids deserve to feel normal and healthy for a bit? For some, it may be their last chance at normalcy. Therefore, whatever is left over will be donated to help these kids get to camp ♡♡
