Help Send Taryn to College

I NEED HELP.

Having been accepted into the college of my dreams at the early age of 16, I cannot afford to pay the cost of an education for a Bachelor’s degree .

The fees are just over US$73000. The good news is that I have raised $36000 in scholarships so far. You can see how far short I am.

Why Now?

A lot of people have asked why the rush?

Because if I don't go now I might not be able to go at all.

This is the only university/college programme designed for people my age, and most people enter at 16 or 17 years old. Plus, if I try to defer, there's no guarantee I'll be able to keep the scholarships and financial aid I worked so hard for. It's kind of now or never.

There's another reason.

I've found it hard to be restricted to a traditional academic curriculum with limited subjects.

If I stay in high school on the island, I'll only be able to concentrate on French, Spanish and History. In fact, I might not even be able to do both languages, and I love learning them. At Simon's Rock I can do both, add other languages like German and Chinese, and follow my interests in forensics, computer studies, video production and much more.

The programme also gives me access to a bunch of activities that just aren't available on the small island where I live.

Why I can’t Afford It

On the small Caribbean island where I live, there aren’t many opportunities for scholarships for people of my age and definitely no possibility of education of this type which suits my exact requirements overseas. My parents are self-employed writers. Their income can’t make up the difference and we can’t get a loan either.

I wouldn’t normally want to ask for help with a project like this, but I know I need to step outside of my comfort zone if I’m to achieve success at Bard College at Simon’s Rock.

It’s so important to me to go to college early and get my degree and I am devastated that I might not be able to.

Bard College at Simon’s Rock

From their website: “We're the only residential college experience designed for thoughtful, exceptionally motivated students who are ready to start college early.”

I received a great response from Bard College at Simon’s Rock “It was a pleasure talking to you during our interview. You are an extraordinarily talented student.”

Time is short

I have a limited amount of time to respond to my admission letter, so I don’t have long to prove I can find the rest of the funds.

I have completed a full novel which I hope to have published soon to raise more funds.

If you donate and you’re a company, corporate or nonprofit organisation (charity) please tell me how I can help promote you to thank you for your donation.

I also promise to pay it forward by establishing a scholarship fund for others like me when I am financially stable.

Thank you in advance for helping make my dream come true!
