First, I would like to start by saying that I'm not a person who asks for help easily, it's just not in my nature. That being said, Jeff's uncle Tom encouraged me to start a campaign to help with our household expenses due to Jeff (my husband) having cancer.
This year, a freak-of-nature cancer chose Jeff as it's victim. Jeff was not high risk for this cancer, yet it chose him. Jeff was dealt the oral cancer card, although he's never been a smoker, chewer or heavy drinker. In May, Jeff had 1/3 of his tongue removed as well as the lymph nodes in the left side of his neck. Since then, he has not been recovering as we expected, and finally developed an infection in his neck. Thankfully the doctor in ER, acted swiftly and ordered a cat scan, only to discover that he has a fairly good sized tumor in the bottom of his mouth, throat and neck area. Jeff will be starting chemo treatments very soon to agressively battle this horrible disease, yet again.
During this time, Jeff has been unable to work. We have filed for disability, however he was denied with the explaination that he is in fact limited, but not disabled at this time. We've hired a lawyer, but we're told it will be 12-18 months. I am a school bus driver who has been off work for the summer, in addition to Jeff's care giver. We have been selling everything we could possibly sell to add to my $138 weekly unemployment to help get our bills paid since May. It's simply not working. We are at a high risk of losing our house and car.
At the risk of felling like I'm begging, I need help. I can't do this alone anymore, and Jeff can't handle the stress along with chemo. I don't want Jeff to be cancer's victim, I want him to KICK CANCERS BUTT TO THE CURB!!
