Kristin's Dance with Cancer

IMPORTANT UPDATE: On 9/12 Kristin  was admitted to the ER due to sharp pains in her abdomen. The CT scan and ultrasound revealed large mass between her pelvis and uterus. She had surgery on Sept 15th to remove the mass and was discharge home today, Sept 16th. The operation went well, they had to remove her right ovary which had twisted and grew to the size of a large potato!The doctor said it is likely that this enlargement is from benign cysts, but biopsy results in a week will confirm.They removed the ovary and the tube, which only decreases her chance for pregnancy by 10%. 

This was yet another unexpected speed bump, and not only will Kristin be out of work for a while, she will continue being faced with more and more medical expenses and debt. She has had a rough few years and continues to have an optimistic and strong warrior willpower, but the burdens of her chronic leukemia, last year and this years hospitalizations, and other debt associated with her medical rollercoaster seem to be compounding.
