Hello Everyone!!!
My name is Kristina Rugnetta and I will be competing in the 2016 Miss Massachusetts USA pageant this November 21st & 22nd! Since I was a little girl, I have dreamt of representing my state at the national competition of Miss USA. Becoming the next Miss Massachusetts USA would not only be a dream come true, it would also give me a platform to contribute to my community on a greater level, inspire others through living a healthy and active lifestyle, and pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
What will I do with the prestigious title of Miss Massachusetts USA?
As Miss Massachusetts USA, I would support many charities that I feel passionate about. Not only will I support the charities sponsored by the Miss Universe Organization, I will also be able to volunteer on a greater level to charities that focus on cancer awareness and research and bullying prevention. Recently, I lost a close family member to a rare cancer. As Miss Massachusetts, I will have a greater platform to support charities that focus on finding a cure. I also support charities that focus on bullying prevention because I personally struggled with this in middle school and know first hand how being bullied can be a difficult challenge to overcome.
A rising issue in Massachusetts is the high drug-related crime rate. As the state titleholder, I would like to speak to young students about the importance of education. Better education in Massachusetts will help lower the high crime rate and make for a more productive society.
Becoming Miss Massachusetts USA enables me to meet many professionals in fields of journalism, modeling, hosting and acting. This would be a great stepping stone on my career path to becoming a news anchor on a major news network. Most importantly, as the 2016 Miss Massachusetts USA, I will be able to inspire others to take chances, give back to their community, work hard, and live a positive and active lifestyle.
What qualifies me to be a titleholder?
Here are some of my accomplishments...
- Senior at Boston University majoring in broadcast journalism.
- I am the news correspondent for Jamaica Plain on Boston Neighborhood Network Channel 9 local news.
- Member of the National Honors Society- Sigma Alpha Lambda- Boston University Chapter.
- I competed in the 2012 Miss New Jersey USA Pageant and received the Best Interview Award.
- I am a former flight attendant- where I gained confidence from leading others.
- Raised $26,000 for the Human Rights Campaign supporting LGBT equality.
- Active traveler and adventure seeker - I travel yearly between Hawaii, Florida, and California, where I have pet baby alligators, swam with dolphins, spent time with elephant seals, flew a plane, hiked the Na Pali Coast in Kauai, camped at Big Sur, etc.
- Modeling/Acting- I did a Photo shoot with Pageant Photographer, Todd Ward, modeled Oscar gowns on Good Morning America, acted in a TV series called Ghost Chicks, took acting classes at TVI- Actors Studio in NYC, etc.
How will I prepare to win the crown this November?
To be prepared to take the stage this November, I will need my evening gown, swimsuit, interview outfit, opening number dress, heels, makeup, airbrush tanning, pageant coach (to help with my walk and stage presence), and a fitness trainer (workout and nutrition plan to help me be swimsuit ready).
From now until the pageant, I will be getting my body and my mind in the best shape it's ever been in. I will be working out 5 days a week and eating an all natural low-carb protein diet. I will also be working with my pageant coach to have an elegant graceful pageant presence. I am confident with all the hard work I will be doing these next few months; I will be able to rock the stage this November!
