Food for Community
Donation protected
I am happy to announce that Food for Community has been selected to attend the 2018 Clinton Global Initiative University meeting this year at the University of Chicago. Not only have we gotten the chance to be a part of this life changing conference, we have also been selected to compete in the Commitment Challenge!
The Commitment Challenge is a chance to raise money for our amazing cause! From now until October 15th we will be accepting donations to help EVERYONE gain access to nutritious and stable food, all while reducing food waste.
When I started Food for Community I was just a student trying to help the environment and those in my local community. It is easy to forgot that people in our own backyards struggle with hunger every day. Schools are the third largest producers of food waste each year, with thousands of unopened food items ending up in land fills. At Food for Community we aim to collect excess unused food from schools, educate the youth on sustainable practices, and help feed those struggling in these communities.
Our goal is simple, help people while helping the environment. Small changes can lead to huge differences in our communities, our cities and across the globe. Even donating the smallest amount can help us feed so many people in need. No amount is too big or too small. Help us feed stomachs, not landfills!
I want to thank Patrick Carleton, Linda Hartsock, Dr. Tim Volk, Ben Gnacik, Linda Napier and everyone else who has helped this dream become a reality!
Funds will be withdrawl personally by Samantha Guillaume.
