Amys Treatment Fund

Donation protected
Hi everyone, first off thank you for taking the time out to read my story.  Below is an outline of who I am, how it all began, tried & failed treatmeants I have gone through and my GoFundMe Goal.

My name is Amy Louise Galvin. I am a twenty-eight year old woman from Galway city Ireland. I am proud to say I am the eldest of four in my family.

How did it all begin?

I was diagnosed with ovarian teratoma cancer stage 3 on the 19th of December 2013 and have been battling ever since. This diagnosis came as a result of a number of complaints I made about my health to the doctor often presenting what seemed like irritable bowel symptoms. After a routine blood test I received an urgent phone call to go to A&E as my bloods were all over the place. I underwent various health checks and scans on the 27th November 2013.  On the 1st of December 2013 I went into surgery for 3.5 hours to find out I had a 17cm cyst on my right ovary. During this surgery doctors removed the right ovary tube, left lining of ovary tissue, 600ml of fluid and other flowering cysts all over my other organs. As mentioned above I was officially diagnosed with cancer on the 19th of december 2013. By the date of official diagnosis the cancer had spread to the lining of my stomach and at present it is now a stable 26cm.

Tried & Failed Treatments- Effects on my body & Mind

I began chemotherapy and spent most of my time in Galway University Hospital. This type of treatment was extremely hard on my body. I continuously had to receive plenty units of blood and white blood cells as I was losing my own as a result of treatment. I also tried a procedure known as stem cell but this also failed.

At this point I was very sick and ended up in a wheelchair and couldn’t walk for six months. During treatment I kept getting infections. I lost my hair. I was put on a morphine pump for pain from October 2014. These were very difficult, dark times for me. I struggled with myself and my thoughts. Was I to give up or keep going? I almost had to say my goodbye to all my loved ones during Christmas 2014.

In September 2015 I came off the morphine pump and went into Galway Hospice for respite and aid with pain relief.

My GoFundMe Goal

I need to raise necessary funds so I can access alternative treatments and take part in clinical trials testing non-invasive treatments for curing ovarian Teratoma cancer that are only available outside Ireland. No costs have been finalised as of yet but the to get onto the first waiting list is €4000 this is my first goal. When I have final cost details for the treatment I will up date you all. I need my close knit community, wider community and worldwide community to help me.

I am feeling positive going forward, raising enough funds to get treatment, becoming healthy and living my life.

Please help me BEAT cancer by donating what you can, spread the word about this page and share positivity & love each day in your lives.

Thank you in advance.

Lots of love xoxox Amy Lou.
