Kopi’s Surgery

A few days ago, Kopi collapsed on the ground crying and screaming in pain, unable to stand up. We took him to the animal hospital, thinking it was a leg injury of some kind. They X-rayed him, pumped him full of painkillers, and sent him home with the diagnosis of a small leg sprain.
After taking him home, he started having more trouble walking, though he would have small moments of normal agility. The collapsing and screaming fits started happening more and more over the next 2 days until he stopped eating and getting up from his bed all together, his legs twisted in a strange position. Sara called the vet multiple times asking what to do as her heart was aching watching Kopi in pain, but they just said he had to heal. She started suspecting a misdiagnosis, as looking up the symptoms seemed to point more towards a neurological problem.
After taking Kopi to 5 different animal hospitals, it was found that Kopi was born with Atlantoaxial Luxation, a birth defect that many small breed dogs are prone to. Essentially, Kopi's neck is born with an instability that would become worse and worse as he grew and could result in complete paralysis, while rendering him in extreme pain from spinal cord compression.
The doctors gave Sara 2 choices: put Kopi in a brace for the rest of his life, and let him live with chronic pain, or take him into a very dangerous and expensive surgery with a 30% chance of death, but a 70% chance he will make a full recovery.
Sara has made the difficult decision to take him into surgery, putting her trust into the doctors and God, but currently she is struggling to come up with the full funds for it.
The surgery will cost $8,665, and though we know you all have your own problems and life to handle, we implore you to please help Sara and Kopi as little or as much as you can, for we've watched them painstakingly struggle through this process.
