Komrades Food Truck Theft Relief

Last summer, Alex Schenck realized his longtime dream of opening his own food truck. The Komrades food truck in Utah creates “Food For The People”– craft-made street eats that are fresh, affordable, and play an important role in the community. True to his motto, Alex and the Komrades team have focused on sourcing ethical ingredients, serving fundraisers, and donating leftover food to the Utah Rescue Mission. Now multiple thefts have plagued this promising local business, and Komrades needs your help.
Last fall, the generator for the food truck was stolen. Fortunately, it was insured and Alex was able to replace the generator (a $5000 value). To prevent this from happening again, Alex welded the new generator into the truck. Alex pays to park his truck in a “commissary” as required by local regulation, yet this lot provides no security features. Last Sunday, thieves sawed through the metal and stole the generator. This time, the insurance company advised Alex not to file a claim, since the raised rates would cost him more money in the long-term.
The timing couldn’t be worse. The winter season is hard on the food truck industry, since most of their business is in the summer. The money Komrades will need to spend on new generators (2 smaller generators that can be securely locked away) was needed to make crucial repairs to the truck, add tables & chairs, and expand the grill to make it possible to serve larger volumes of people more quickly.
The summer calendar for Komrades is filling up fast, and Alex needs your help in order to position his food truck to have a successful summer. Please consider making a contribution – with your help we can come together and erase the damage caused by the thieves.
