THIS JUNE my best friend and I will be challenging ourselves mentally, physically and emotionally in the hope of raising awareness for a topic that is close to our hearts!
At the end of 2015, an estimated 25, 313 people were living with HIV in Australia. In an effort to help break the stigma surrounding those living an HIV+ life, we are hoping to promote a positive message - YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK! Through a 10 day trek of the KOKODA TRAIL in Papua New Guinea, we hope to challenge the stereotypes and empower those still struggling to believe in themselves.
Just because a person is HIV+ does not mean they are any less valuable as a human being!
Setting the precedent and leading us on our trek will be Olympic Silver Medalist, Ji Wallace. A public figure, role model and activist - Ji's passion for raising awareness and educating about prevention has inspired Adrian and I to do something that we never otherwise would have considered. Whilst hoping to send a powerful message of encouragement and acceptance, we will be raising funds in support of the HIV Foundation.

I believe every Australian holds a powerful connection to KOKODA and I believe that every Australian has the courage to challenge their own limits in support of something they feel so passionately about. My passion comes from the challenge of setting an example to those still trapped by their own ignorance.
A target of $5000 has been set for each trekker - this will cover the costs incurred by the trekking company, flights, accommodation and expenses at each of the local communities and villages we visit along the way, as well as equipment and supplies required for the trek.
Every dollar raised is a step toward my efforts to reach KOKODA! Please support me, so that I might be able to support those in my community suffering with the stigma!
