Hi Everyone, my name is Elliot Senya, a former pupil of Kodzi EP Schools and I am raising money to help complete a library project which has been going on for almost 9 years.
Let’s help finish building a library in Kodzi!
In a little village on the coast of Ghana where it seems that time has stood still for the last 20 years, something exciting is happening!
A group of forward-thinking and passionate individuals decided in 2010 to build a library in the fishing village of Kodzi in the Volta Region of Ghana (West Africa). This is to create a reading facility for its basic school kids as a way of encouraging academic self-development and learning. It will also provide a teaching facility for Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The library will not only have printed materials but more importantly, it will function as a portal connecting them to the world via the Internet.
Through numerous fundraising activities, individuals as well as corporate donations the project is well on its way. At the latest update (April 2019) the structure has been roofed, plastered, ceiled and wired (see photos below).
The kids are excited about the new library after almost 9 long years of waiting. But there is a danger of further years of waiting if we don’t help.
We are now looking for funds to complete the library before the end of 2019 ready for the next academic year. The estimated cost to complete the project is approximately £20K depending on exchange rates. Any donations that can support us will be greatly appreciated. Every penny raised will be used to complete and furnish the library.
No amount is too small - every little helps!
There will be regular project updates through pictures and videos where possible.
