KOAA Team Zach No-shave November

Tax deductible
A handful of men from KOAA 5 are participating this year in No-Shave November.  The goal is to raise awareness and funds for health issues that affect men in particular.

The organization I am supporting is the Southern Colorado AIDS Project (http://www.coloradoaidsproject.org/southern-colorado-aids-project).  Although HIV/AIDS has diminished from the public limelight since its height of prominence in the 1980s and early '90s, it still affects thousands in Colorado, particularly men.  More than 8,900 men in Colorado are living with HIV/AIDS, compared to just under 900 women.  Long-term survival with HIV/AIDS is now possible thanks to advancements in medical treatment -- Magic Johnson is an example of someone who has survived 30 years after being diagnosed.  But the disease has not gone away.

I stopped shaving on Nov. 6 (a bit of a late start for the challenge) and won't shave again until Dec. 1.  I'm competing against News 5 anchor Ira Cronin, metorologist Sam Schreier, and Sports Director Grant Meech to see who can grow the best beard.  Help us bring awareness to men's health issues by supporting our fundraising efforts.

Thanks in advance!
