Mel’s Run for Crohns & Colitis

Having turned the dreaded 'big 5' '0' last December I decided to mark the occasion by doing 50 things in my 50th year.....
One of them being to run a 10km race for charity.. So here I am... Only now it's turned into running two 10km races.....
The London Vitality 10k..... May 2019 and
Run The Night 10k.... October 2019.
Both runs will be for my chosen charity Crohns and Colitis UK... A charity that's working hard to improve diagnosis and treatment, to fund research and raise awareness of this horrible disease.
Crohns Disease is a complicated disease that over 300.000 people in the UK suffer from.
There is no cure......
Crohns is something that is close to heart....
My mum had Crohns Disease and died because of it at the age of 25 yrs...... I was 6 yrs old....
I myself have had Crohns Disease for 26+ yrs now... ... There's been so many ups n downs along the way... I've seen numerous medications fail, endless side effects, tiresome complications, had three lots of surgery including 2 bowel resections, and every day remains a battle.....
All of which I couldn't have got through, without the love n support of my hubby, kids, family and friends...

Now you have to bare with me in that I haven't run since i was at school...n even then swimming was my real forte not running!!!
So this is a challenge for me...
The Vitality 10km will be my first ever 10km race... Made even more poignant by the fact that I will be running it on what would have been my mums 70th birthday.... So I'm hoping to do her proud....
