Emily's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
If you are lucky enough to know Sam and Emily, you know how humble and selfless these two are on a daily basis. I cannot begin to count the number of times one or both of them dropped what they were doing to help me.

I'm sure if you know them, you could say the same, and now it is our time to return the favor.

For a few months, Emily was experiencing stomach pain and other symptoms. Her general practitioner recommended a colonoscopy and during the procedure, the doctor encountered a lot of inflammation and could not see much. While waiting about a week on pathology results from a biopsy and a follow-up CT scan, the pain grew much worse. On Monday, May 8, they went to the emergency room and were admitted and received a CT scan where it was determined the pain was caused by a perforation in the intestine as well as a cancerous mass.

Emily underwent surgery on Tuesday, May 9 to attempt to remove the mass, which was not completely possible. She stayed in the hospital through Tuesday, May 16. She is currently home to continue her recovery from surgery, and healing will take many weeks. After the doctors determine she has healed enough, she will start chemotherapy at the James Cancer Hospital.

During her stay in the hospital post-surgery, Emily and Sam posted a link for friends and family to set up time to cook and deliver meals to alleviate some of that stress; however, neither anticipated the swift action of those around them and the schedule was filled within an hour!

I was one of the many who missed the opportunity and still wanted to help, so I asked them if they would let me begin a campaign in their name.

If you are able to donate, this money will go to anything from gas to and from the hospital to providing cleaning and upkeep of their home, giving their rescue dogs continued love and attention, and of course, helping with medical bills as Emily begins chemotherapy.

For those of you who do not know Emily & Sam, both are extremely proud graduates of The Ohio State University, where Sam now works as a Systems Manager at the College of Engineering.  And you might have seen Emily, Promotions Director for 97.1 The Fan, spending her time cheering on the Buckeye football team or chatting up fans during the CBJ Fan Cam with Fox Sports Ohio.

Outside of being avid Columbus Sports fans, these two also spend time with their favorite fur babies. They have rescued three dogs, fostered three dogs and often volunteer in other ways for RESCUEDohio.

Emily and Sam want you to know how blown away they already are with the outpouring of love and support during this unexpected difficult time. They cannot thank you enough and want you to know how much it means to them.

Please consider donating to this fund - any little bit can help! We all know Emily is a fighter! Lets rally together to help in any way we can.
