My name is Andrew Kelly. I am 25 years old, and I am going to be evicted. I am in debt with my landlord, and the Philadelphia Gas company. How am I in debt with my landlord? In the last three years I have had eight people move in, and seven people move out of my house. Four of those seven were great humans that I love dearly. Three of them are partially the reason I am in the mess that I am in.

Before they moved out I was told that the gas bill could be periodically paid off and there was no need to pay everything owed on a bill to keep the balance at 0. I couldn't afford to pay that much at the time, so I assumed I was doing the right thing. I was wrong, but constantly being told that everything was fine. Then those people moved and left me to pick up the pieces and figure it out from there. Suddenly everything was in my name, and I discovered that everything was NOT fine at all. When they lived in my house there were  5 people.

When they moved, three left, two stayed, and one moved in. We were still paying rent, but I was taking some of the rent money along with bill money and distributing it out evenly between everything (bills and rent) to try and cover all of the expenses, without explaining or communicating. Then two more people moved in, and I began to catch up on everything again, but the debt had grown. Then I was told that all three out of the NEW five people were moving out, due to the house being in a terrible area and they felt unsafe.

And then there were two. Again.

Just before this happened, my girlfriend and I were held up at gunpoint on the porch of the house. Not making this up - we were four feet away from my front door. He came up onto my porch and had a loaded gun. I have been terrified of being there since then, and I have been desperate to leave. I need to be able to move, and this would make it infinitely easier to do so.

One other person moved in after that point,  but our rent had already increased considerably due to lack of room mates. Then we really fell behind. The gas was cut off. I cannot pay the full amount, and winter is here.  Also, that third roomate moved out, and that has left me to pay  $1000 by myself on rent only, not counting bills.

This is truly the most humbling and embarassing thing I've ever owned up to. Because it is essentially all my fault,  because I have decided to take responsibility even for the things that happened that were NOT my fault.

There have been periods of time when there has not been enough money coming into the house, and honestly, somethings just seem to get away from you and out of your control so quickly, you don't even know how to deal with it. You don't know how to communicate with people, you don't know how to function.

My goal is to pay off what I can, and then move out at the end of January. I have a destination that I can move to to live relatively for free for a few months to save and pay off more of my debts, but I need to be able to pay what I can until I am able to move.

I have put up a goal of $2500, which I know is probably going to get me laughed at. But I am begging for some help - I know that times are hard and money's tight for everyone, but I'm kind of coming down to the end of my rope here. I have no one to really fall back on, no to really help out as far as money goes.

Also, to clear things up, I do have a job. I have a full time and pretty well paying job. But I am not making enough through this job to even begin to make a dent in the anount that I owe. I have been trying, and no matter what I've tried, it has not worked.

If you can, or if you want to, please donate. I am literally on the verge of eviction and I am becoming desperate. I cannot have an eviction on my credit score along with everything else or I will literally never be able to move in anywhere.
I know that most people only will do something if there's another something in it for them, and I will try to figure out a way to thank everyone as best as I can, But I hope you all know that if you do donate, you will be my personal hero - You will be helping me out more than you will ever know and I will be thankful to you forever.  I need the funds ASAP, but I cannot thank you enough, even just for reading this. I feel incredibly stupid and embarrassed for having to ask, but it's the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew
