Radiation Treatment

On November 15th 2017 as most of you know, I was diagnosed with Uveal Melanoma. I had noticed flashes in my vision, then a blur. This is a rare tumor but popular for light eyes and faired skin unlucky people. I was sent in for MRI and CT Scan both with and without contrast. 
The results were negative for any spread. On Dec. 26th 2017 I had surgery done to insert tantalum markers around the tumor. The markers will permanently stay in my eye and used to keep the radiation focused on the tumor.  This brings me to my radiation treatment.  Also, the reason why im asking for some help and your kindness. 
On Jan. 22nd 2018 I was scheduled for radiation treatment at UC Davis in the Crocker Nuclear Facility, Unfortunately, the Proton Machine has been down since the holidays. It has come to my attention this facility does not keep routine maintanance on this old complex nuclear machine. The UCSF staff And my awesome Ophthalmologist treating me along with the folks at the Crocker Nuclear Facility have worked endless hours to get the machine to generate the protons needed for my treatment. They have failed! I am told two other people needing treatment are going to MGH too.  Now the machine is going to be down for another 6 weeks (my tumor has grown since November and my best option is in Boston MA.)  Thus, i am asking for your small donation and kindness to make the trip to Boston.

I had two options when this mess has progressed. 
1. Fly to Boston for three weeks to start mask and treatment right away.... OR
2. Have surgery to have my right eye removed. NOPE!

I have received my phone call from Boston to start preparing to fly out and stay for three weeks to get treatment. Unfortunately, this is going to cost me out of pocket. I feel its unfair that UC Davis is not picking up the bill for the machine having complications. I have not worked since Nov. 17 2017.  It's been a stressful for the whole family and disappointing procedure since the news of the tumor.  My need is immediate as I will need
to go as soon as the Boston Hospital calls with the treatment schedule.
