KittyKaretakers is a small not-for-profit organization, started in 2001 by Patty Kline, dedicated to the rescue & placement of cats & kittens in the NYC area. We are currently only a foster-home based rescue group & depend completely on donations & our volunteers to continue our mission. We are DESPERATELY in need of funds, not only to pay for major medical expenses for cats who come to us with major illnesses/injuries, but also for the basics of food, litter & vaccination costs. We are looking to raise money to meet our current goal: to buy a van that can be used to transport our supplies & cats from our foster homes to locations where we can hold adoption events for these animals who so desperately need your help! We are currently completely dependent upon whether we have drivers with large enough vehicles who can help us transport. If we have a van of our own, all we would need is a driver & we are able to make our outings & find more loving homes! Please help us make our goal! Even the smallest donation goes a long way! Please feel free to visit our Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/#!/kittykaretakers) to like & spread the word. We regularly update our Facebook & website ( www.kittykaretakers.org) with our current adoption locations & times if you are interested in volunteering or adopting. We thank you for any help you can give!

MIDNIGHT needs our help! This year old kitty was rescued from the projects in Coney Island where he was tossed into a garbage can. He has had severe diarrhea. Vets thought at first it was parasites (but the fecal came back negative), & then a food sensitivity, but he has grown progressively worse & had to be hospitalized last night. The vet felt a palpable mass in his abdomen & could see it on X-rays & an ultrasound. He went in for surgery today. They found all of his lymph nodes are greatly inflamed. We are awaiting biopsy results to know whether he has cancer or a deadly infection. Through it all, Midnight remains a complete sweetheart & is fighting to survive. His vet bill has already ran up to $1500 between hospitalization (where he will have to remain for a few more days) & the surgery. It is roughly costing us $200-300 a day to keep him on IV & antibiotics, but we can't give up on this baby yet! If anyone can help with a donation on Midnight's behalf, we would greatly appreciate it.

A big thank you to everyone who donated to help SQUEAKY. Squeaky had his vet visit today. He has bad ulcers on his eyes which will require two different sets of drops three times a day for at least the next three weeks. He also, unfortunately, tested light positive for feline leukemia. The vet feels now that we got him off the streets in enough time, and in a healthy environment where he is properly treated, his immune system will shake the virus and in another month we can retest him to see if it turns negative. Till then we are seeking a foster home with no other cats that is willing to help treat Squeaky until he can go back to vet and be re-tested. Until then, we must board him as he can not be around other cats until we are sure he does not have feline leukemia. If anyone can donate in the mean time to help with the boarding fees and medicine, please do so. Here are some pics of Squeaky sleeping in a comfy new bed!

Say hello to SQUEAKY! Squeaky is our newest rescue (as of tonight actually). He was heard crying from an abandoned boat in a gated community garden in Coney Island. Volunteers could vaguely see him running around in the boat from outside the fence, but for hours no mother cat came to him. Finally, a brave volunteer was able to climb a fence & a tree to get into the garden in the dark of night and get him. Turns out Squeaky is blind, or at least has very little vision, and was not able to find his way out of the boat. Sensing something was wrong with the kitten, the mother may have decided to abandon Squeaky to his fate. Luckily for him, we were able to come to the rescue and tonight Squeaky is under a volunteer's roof with a full belly and will see the vet tomorrow to be fully examined. This will cost money however & we depend on your generosity to continue to help kittens like Squeaky!

Got kittens? We DEFINITELY do! Kitten season SHOULD be coming to an end, but we haven't seen so many people emailing us about kittens the entire summer as we do now! We currently have about 60 kittens and a couple of mamas up for adoption & we NEED YOUR HELP! With the kittens pouring in quicker than they are leaving, we need funds to keep up with the medical, food & litter costs. Whatever you can give would be much appreciated by our kitties who we struggle to provide for until they find forever homes of their own.

My wife and I adopted three beautiful kittens from kittykaretakers over one year ago after our cat Meetoo passed away from a long fight with stomach cancer. She was with us 2 1/2 years longer than expected because of our vets amazing treatment and care. It did cost money though but worth every penny. We shared 2 1/2 extra special years of unconditional love and joy with Meetoo. Midnight deserves the same chance as our cat Meetoo had. Kittykaretakers is the best. They care, they love, they nurture...tirelessly. Again please support them to give beautiful Midnight a fighting chance. Love & peace, Seth David Walter
