Kitted Clothing Start Up
Clothes have the power to define us. They define how others see us. They define how we see ourselves.
The clothes we choose to wear make an important statement about who we are and our place in the world. But for too long, children with special needs have had to make do with clothing that doesn’t meet their needs, or is practical but boring. This sends an important signal to our children: in clothing, as in the wider world, society is telling them that they just don’t quite fit.
Inspired by my experience as a mother to a beautiful girl with special needs, my aspiration is to change that. I believe that each and every child, no matter what their personal challenges, deserves to be seen as an individual human being with innate dignity and a unique personality.
I have made it my mission to give them the power to express themselves through their clothing in the same way that any other person can choose to do, by getting to know Kitted customers as individuals and constantly striving to put their needs at the forefront of the design process.
The funds raised will be used to employ professional designers, graders and seamstresses to make the clothes, so that I can be sure that the garments are of high quality and able to withstand the rigours of daily life.

Peace and love! xx
The highlight of the last few weeks was definitely the Collections Showcase for Angelman Syndrome which took place at The Cube in the heart of Birmingham. I was thrilled to present the Kitted Clothing collection to a room full of bloggers and fashion journalists, and to get some fantastic feedback. Excitingly, we've been invited back to the next event which will be taking place in Birmingham in December. More details to follow nearer the time, and you can read more about the event on our blog page at www.KittedClothing.com
I've also been having fun experimenting with stop motion technology to make new social media adverts to raise the profile of Kitted Clothing. It's been a bit of a hot task in this weather, but very satisfying seeing all the photos come together to bring the clothes to life!
Bringing the clothes to life in a different way, Kitty was kind enough to pose in the flower print harem pants recently for an impromptu photo shoot. She loves spinning on my office chair, and also loved wearing the silky soft pants (she laughed when I put them on her), so was more than happy to showcase her trademark smile for the photos. I hope you'll agree that the pictures came out beautifully, and look pretty smart on our new flyers too.
Unfortunately however, the perils of being a single mother working on a start up have kicked in. Kitty has been a bit under the weather lately and had to take a few days off school, which delayed some of my Kitted plans for a little while. Things will have to slow down again soon thanks to the summer holidays, but I will still be using the lighter evenings to make a few more pieces, and of course the social media campaigns will continue. Please don't forget to share, share, share the links - it is crowdfunding after all! - and sooner or later we'll hit that target together!
I've had a busy week promoting the campaign and have secured an interview with Shropshire Weekly - hopefully the first of many media appearances.
I've also been preparing for our showcase event in Birmingham on the 30th, and have a busy fortnight ahead of me getting more samples ready for the big day.
Luckily the weather has been bright, allowing me to take some great promotional photos of the clothes, some of which are already up on instagram, with others coming soon. Do follow us there if you don't already.
I'll post another update next week, but for now, bon week-end!
