Rick Ciandro Recovery Fund

Rick was rushed to the hospital Sunday for a diabetic related infection that started in his foot and made it's way to his blood causing him to go into septic shock. He suffered a heart attack in the ambulance. The doctors made the determination that to save his life his right lower leg needed to be removed immediately. He's been recovering in the ICU and preparing for exploratory heart surgery early next week.

Kindness is the only word to sum up Rick. In the time I have gotten to know him I have seen him be a father, a brother, a friend, and a colleague that adopts those around him and takes extraordinary measures to show up over and over again in his devotion to others. Be it from mentoring those around him to fixing up friends homes or showing up for others in their time of need, Rick's kindness always guides his actions.

Our family has spent the last week in the hospital with Rick taking turns sleeping by his side and meeting with doctors, social workers and specialists. As we make plans for his recovery, Rick will need to fly home from the hospital on a special flight since he's still being monitored. He will need weeks of IV antibiotics, along with physical and occupational therapy to recover and one day regain his independence. Your support will cover the costs of the flights, helping his family as they take care of him in the hospital and updating his home to make it ADA accessible and allow him to have as much independence as possible.

"If you take anything with you, take kindness," Rick said to Angela when he heard about the outpouring of well wishes you've sent him since his hospitalization.
