Kim Keliinoi Medical Expenses

$24,652 of $41,190 goal

Raised by 225 people in 6 months
Created March 18, 2018
Hi friends, my name is Rachel Rebottaro and I have started this campaign to help support Kim and her family in this time of need.  Please read through and don't be shy in sharing as well. Kim is like a mother to me and one of the most incredible women I have encountered and I know many feel this way about her.

On Friday morning, (March 16th) Kim was found by her son Jake in her bathroom concussed and bleeding on the floor. He rushed her to the hospital where, due to her injuries, she fell into a deep coma. She had fallen and fractured her skull, which caused swelling and bleeding in her brain. After a grueling 24 hours, she has come out of the coma, but due to the extent of her injuries is being kept sedated. We have hope and she is surrounded by people who love her, but she is still in need of a lot more care and will require outpatient treatment & PT as well.  Currently she is getting frequent CT scans to monitor her brain pressure and make sure the bleed doesn't worsen, which would lead to surgery.

I am requesting help on the behalf of Kim's family, as Kim doesn't have health insurance and they will be paying out-of-pocket.  Anyone who has met Kim knows the extent of her servant-like heart and overflowing love for all she encounters, and our hearts are breaking for this burden and trauma. Any and all support in this process would help, and I know the family would be humbled and comforted to have their community rise up in this way. So let's do this!

Sincerely,

Rachel Rebottaro

Update:

Thank you all for your prayers and your presence in the lives of the Keliinoi's this past couple weeks. It has been such and encouragement.

Kim passed away yesterday at 11:40 am. We are mostly without words. This has shocked our hearts so deeply and it's still unbelievable to our minds. Please bear with us while we are still working out all details regarding a visitation to celebrate the woman that showed all of us what love looks like.

Now more than ever the family is needing your support. The weight of the medical bill will fall to the family and as they are grieving this harsh loss, it's the last thing that they should have to worry about. Please share this page to help support them in this time.

The meal train has been a huge help and is another way to show love to them. I'll attach the link.

The family needs some space to grieve and process this so please respect their space in that way.

Thank you again for your support and prayers.

Update!

Hello sweet people! I'm am writing a quick update. You have been so gracious and patient and GENEROUS! Thank you, thank you.

Please bare with me in this update as information is still pretty vague and few and far between.

Kim is still in a coma. She is has been switched from the incubator to a tracheal tube, which is less irritating and encumbering for when she does wake up. Her ICP (intracranial pressure) is down, a good thing, and because of that they will be able to move her to do an MRI today to see what else is going on in her head. They discovered she has fluid building up in her lungs and are draining it out from not breathing on her own for so long. The organism in her lungs is a weak one, they feel very confident to kill it. That's what causes pneumonia (fluid in lungs). But they are saying that she has started breathing more on her own- thus the switch to the trach. They are also feeding her through a tube. The doctors are saying they expected more of a response from her at this point which is a little discouraging but there are other signs that are good and in the end we are standing in hope

Lots of you are reaching out to the family, and they totally feel your support. It's so incredible. The best ways they can receive help right now are through meals, financial support and prayers right now. They are a bit in limbo and trying to carry on their day-to-day activities and don't have energy for much else other than to be present with each other in the waiting.

The meal train link is

Specific things to pray for:

-Her temperature goes down
-There is no brainstem damage
-The Doctors are able to discern the best next steps.
-The family is surrounded with peace and supernatural rest.

Please keep sharing.

The constant influx of love and support in this time is felt strongly.

Thank you again!

Rachel Rebottaro

Hey all! Quick update!

Firstly THANK YOU! It has been unbelievably encouraging to see community rally behind the Keliinoi family in this and they are overwhelmed!

Kim is currently still in a coma and has stopped responding to verbal cues. She came out of her coma about 24 hours after the initial one but the swelling in her brain has caused her to fall back into one. Today they are doing some more scans and changing to a different type of saline to help reduce the swelling.

Doctors have communicated up until this point that this is fairly normal for a brain injury this severe, but it's obviously been a roller coaster emotionally for the family.

I am starting a meal train and will be posting the link on here sometime today, so keep an eye out .

Specific prayer requests:
The swelling goes down
The family is surround with peace
The doctors are given profound insight into the best next steps.

Again we are so grateful and the financial relief for the family is a huge part of that! Please keep contributing how you can and sharing!

Rachel
