Kimberly's Breast Cancer Journey

A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow. – William Shakespeare

There's that friend who knows all your secrets and who will always have your back. Kimberly is that friend. We met when we were 14. We both left our elementary Catholic schools to start the next phase of our catholic school careers at Notre Dame High School. She has been my partner in crime ever since.

Kimberly is one of those unique souls who will open up her heart to anyone in need. She's that person who will listen to you cry and complain and then tell you how awesome you are and that you can do it. Her passion for food and music are her trademarks. Visit her blog and you will she that she can put together an incredible meal for less than $25! And she wants everyone to be able to do the same. She introduced me to the wonders of Pink Floyd, music concerts and the healing power of music. I have always admired her determination. No matter how hopeless a situation might seem, she will find the way out.

Kimberly has been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and it's aggressive. What we know so far is that there are two tumors and 5 lymph nodes on the right breast that are affected. She will have chemotherapy for 4 months.  Then surgery. It's becoming clear that she will lose her right breast and possibly the left depending on what genetics show. After surgery there will be radiation. Kimberly is blessed to have her mom (who is elderly and has her own health concerns), a few friends and of course Stu (her oh so handsome cat) to support her through this journey but she needs more. When you look at her Facebook or blog she has already asked for prayers and positive thoughts, however, I am here to ask you for financial support to help cover medical costs, rent when she is unable to work, and basic needs. Her medical bills are already starting to accumulate. In the next few days she will have a PET scan, a port placed and chemo starts...and so will the bills. She is determined to work but we all know that chemo will take a toll and she will need money to cover rent when she can't work. And then there are the basic needs.

If you know Kimberly you know she will not be pushed around. She will survive this because that is what she does.

Visit Kimberly's blog to see her amazing receipes. There you will find a donate button. She has also started a wishlist on Amazon. Links below. Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and support.
