This campaign is to support the care of Kim Schuette, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend—and to so many—a bearer of hope and renewed health.
Late this last May, Kim was surprisingly diagnosed with grade-four glioblastoma brain cancer. Neurologists found two masses, one on each side of her brain. Kim underwent two successful surgeries in the span of three weeks, and has spent the last five months in recovery. With a medical team comprised of some of the country's leading glioblastoma experts at UCSD and her trusted colleagues in holistic health, Kim has persevered.
Many who have experienced great health trials themselves or through a loved one understand the ups and downs families face in this situation. It has been a challenging season as the family processes this reality and navigates care and stability. Early in November, Kim’s MRI revealed recurring tumors in her brain. This recurrence has brought new challenges, and is requiring new treatments as well as in-home health care.
As you might expect, the Schuette family is shouldering unexpected costs as in-home care and many treatments are not covered by insurance. The funds raised in this campaign will cover Kim’s in-home care, outstanding medical costs not covered by insurance, as well as holistic treatments that are supporting her recovery.
Kim is known by her selflessness, loving kindness, and constant pursuit of truth. She has given countless hours of her time and talents to help those who are sick or hurting. She's a blessing to all who know her.
The Schuette family thanks you for your prayers, cards, flowers, and meals that you have already given in this season.
